After noticing his lackluster polling amongst young adults, Biden released the ad in an attempt to show he is very much in touch with younger generations.
Joe Biden, the presumptive Democratic candidate for the 2020 Presidential Election.

SCRANTON, Pennsylvania—The 2020 United States Presidential Election will without a doubt impact the lives of all Americans by deciding the President of the nation for the next four years. The current President Donald J. Trump and the presumptive Democratic nominee former Vice President Joe Biden are both expected to go to any measure necessary to secure the lone seat in the Oval Office, and voters are already seeing examples of just how far these candidates will go.
Just today Biden has been seen french kissing his teenage granddaughter in a new campaign ad targeted at young voters. Biden definitely had concerns about his ability to attract young voters and hopes his new campaign will bring him the vote he desperately needs to win. However, the ad, which features Biden and his granddaughter Finnegan making out for a full two minutes, has been called “hard to watch” and “impossible to unsee.”
Viewers have shared their takeaway from the new campaign approach.“They were really going at it with each other,” said one man, who asked to be anonymous. “It was nasty. But also, like, you couldn’t look away? Am I weird for that?”
The Rikers Times asked local young people, some of whom will be voting for the first time this November, how they felt about the ad. “I appreciated it,” said one voter. “Women’s rights is a big voting issue for me, and Biden really showed how much he cares about young girls.”
“The slow jazz was a nice touch,” said another. “That really sold it for me.” But others did not respond so positively to the campaign. One voter mentioned, “I just don’t like how heternormative it was. It’s like, why couldn’t Biden be kissing his grandson? Or at least switch halfway through? It just feels like a kick in the face to the LGBT community.”
An old man who doesn’t understand boundaries or the very person we need to unite the country? It’s a line Joe Biden walks proudly. Only hours after the release of the ad, #BidenLovesTheKids has been trending all over Twitter and it seems as though no one can tell if this is a good thing for the presidential hopeful or not.
