SpaceX HEADQUARTERS, Alaska—Elon Musk has just released his plans for SpaceX’s exploration of the solar system for the next 40 years at his annual press conference. While some of his plans were expected or announced before, such as his plan to conquer Mars, others took the press by complete surprise. Namely, Musk outlined his plan to land a man on the Sun by 2038, a feat he assures the public is completely possible.

Musk says that if we could finally land a man on the sun we could better understand the source of energy for everything in our world. Since the sun is the primary source of energy for all life on our planet, Musk hopes to finally procure samples from the sun to find out where it gets its energy from. He asserts that the sun is probably composed of enormous carbohydrate groups which it sources its energy. Musk also answered questions about the logistics of actually landing a person on the surface of the sun, which is approximated to be about 5578 degrees Kelvin (5300 degrees Celsius). In a quote from the tech billionaire himself, Musk stated, “It’s simple. To land a person on the sun, we’ll just send them at night, in the winter. That gives them the largest window of time to land on the sun while its cold or frozen from the winter, and while its light is out at night. If we send someone during the day, they’re definitely going to get really hot and take off their astronaut suit and die to the vacuum of space.” Musk did acknowledge that climate change could affect his plans over the next few decades since the sun is becoming hotter due to human activity, giving him less time to land a man safely on its scorching surface.

EDIT: Musk continued to announce his plans to finally escape the galaxy and venture to the edge of the universe in the next few weeks. He declared that he filled up a rocket with AA batteries so that he does not run out of energy while trying to escape orbit, and from there he believes it should only be a short trip to the furthest corners of our infinitely expanding universe. Scientists from Rikers University were quick to shoot down Musk’s proposals. Head scientists from the renowned institution released a statement this morning saying “It’s completely impossible to land a man on the surface of the sun. The sun is completely plasma so he would not be able to stand on the surface. As such he would have to know how to swim first so that he doesn’t drown on the sun.”

Despite doubts from some of the greatest scientific minds in the world, Musk stood steadfast in his proposals, and it would not be the first time he did something everyone else thought was completely impossible.
