NEW YORK CITY, New York—The novel Coronavirus (COVID-19) has taken the world by storm in the last few months forcing the world into lockdown in hopes of containing the virus. As of May 15 Over 300,000 people have died of the virus worldwide and there have been over 4.63M confirmed cases. With the virus bringing the world to a complete standstill, many of the top universities and organizations in the world have begun to work on vaccines while others investigate the cause of the virus. Upholding its status as one of the most renowned institutions in the world, Rikers University has begun to research probable causes of the virus by researching correlations between positive cases of the virus and environmental factors.

Many factors showed promising correlations with the number of coronavirus cases in the world. Initially, time was considered the leading cause of coronavirus, since as the number of months in the year increased, the number of cases increased as well. Another factor was social contact, since social contact had decreased due to the lockdown, the projected number of cases in the world had also decreased. After contemplating how these factors may have caused the virus none of them were viable causes according to Rikers University. However, one environmental factor showed an extremely promising correlation with the number of COVID-19 cases worldwide and also seems like a viable cause of the virus according to Rikers. When graphing the number of coronavirus cases against the number of tests done in the world an unprecedented close correlation appeared. The correlation seemed almost perfect and scientists at Rikers University determined that coronavirus testing may in fact be the direct cause of coronavirus.

Rikers University immediately revealed their findings to the public and called for the closing of all coronavirus test sites citing that if we completely eradicate testing the number of new positive cases would also drop to 0. Rikers cited that the eradication of the virus would be imminent following the closing of all testing sites. These findings once again illustrated why Rikers University is one of the leading scientific organizations in the world, and demonstrated the importance of following the science in these trying times.
